Virtual Reader Event: Book Club Favorites with Kristin Harmel

I’ve been incredibly lucky this spring to have not one but two digital events with the incredibly talented historical fiction author Kristin Harmel! Simon & Schuster invited us on to their Book Club Favorites group for a Facebook live where we talked about Kristin’s next book, The Book of Lost Names, as well as my recent release The Whispers of War. We also chatted about research and why WWII is having a moment in fiction, and we took plenty of live questions from readers!

Virtual Reader Event: Our View from Here

As difficult as the pandemic has been, one of the things I’ve been heartened to see is the way that authors and readers have been reaching out virtually.

I was thrilled to round out the month of April with the incredible historical fiction authors Genevieve Graham, Kristin Harmel, Jennifer Robson, Roxanne Veletzos, and Ellen Keith as part of the Our View from Here Facebook Live reader event! We opened the floor to questions from readers, and they asked plenty!

If you missed the event, you’re in luck. It’s recorded and available to watch here:

I’ll be doing more events like Our View from Here, so be sure to like my Facebook page to be sure you don’t miss out!

Your Questions Answered

One of my favorite things about being an author is talking to readers. With The Light Over London launching on both sides of the pond, readers have been emailing me with all sorts of questions about the book. I’ve decided I want to pool those questions and answer them during a Facebook Live video this March.

So, tell me, what do you want to know? Where did I get the idea for The Light Over London? What's it like living in London? Who are my favorite authors?

Just leave your comment on this post. (It’s okay if you just want to say hi.) Then be sure to like my Facebook Page so that you won't miss my Facebook Live with all of the answers!

Speaking Event: "How To Write Romantic Novels and Get Published" at Pimlico Library

London-based readers, I have an author appearance to tell you about, just in time for the release of The Light Over London in the UK.

If you’ve ever wanted to write romantic fiction, I will be speaking at Pimlico Library with Brigid Coady on writing the genre and getting your books published. This is a great chance to ask lots of questions about ideas, structure, and writing process. You’ll also have the chance to ask about the publishing both in the US and the UK.

Writing Synopses The Sell

I recently taught a workshop with Alisha Rai at the Romance Writers of America conference in Denver about writing synopses that grip editors and agents and sell your book, During that, I promised that I would link to a presentation I'd put together for another workshop walking through the mechanics of what a synopsis needs. If you're looking for that presentation, you can find it here. (Please enjoy the Queer Eye GIFs.)

Authors, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions at juliakelly@juliakellywrites.com.
